After having seen Foreboding at the BerlinFF, a natural consequence was to watch the Cure.
The Cure is hypnotic, raw and thrilling, a 20 year old movie that still has it (full disclosure it was my first viewing ). The last scene is something most of the modern movies (still) lack.
Foreboding has a similar touch, but somehow it’s different than the Cure. The darkness the suspense, and the mystery can be felt in both of them, they just make you wanna watch them till the very end.
2 well crafted films worth watching.
Mr. Kurosawa , I salute you.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day 3D (1991/2017) – great, despite it’s age, still better than many contemporary action films, had a lot of fun watching it again. 3d adds a nice touch to it.
Golden Exits (2017) – slowly paced, dialog based and linear; interesting cast including the Beastie Boy.
Berlin Syndrome (2017) – Australian filmmakers and Berlin seemed like a good combination, unfortunately none of my expectations had been met when the film ended. Doesn’t add anything new to the ‘kidnapped and help captive’ movie genre except a big yawn.
Fluid0 (2017) – bad cinema, bad erotic cinema, bad comedy.
I am not your negro (2016) – exceptionally good composed out of Baldwin’s materials. The statements made in the interviews are still powerful and fit the current US / World situation.
The Misandrists (2017) – the Bruce la Bruce film is definitely not a ‘Ferrari la Ferrari’ kind of experience, the better of two Bruce la Bruce films screened at the festival.
