Silk (1986) / Dune Warriors (1990)

Silk (1986) – Cec Verrell is Jenny Sleighton aka Silk, the smoothest cop in Honolulu,  she shoots, climbs, kills and loves. Unfortunately not so much stuff typical to a female characater.

‘ When the heat’s on no one’s smoother than ….’
The theme song is a typical ‘CH Santiago’ soundtrack ‘smash hit’
slk
Dune Warriors (1990) – a Mad Max 2  like post apocalyptic dessert adventure. Swords meet motorcycles and machine guns (the opening scene says it all), felt a bit like ‘7 samurai’ ; and David Carradine is in it.
Lets not forget Rick Hill, who was in ‘The Devastator’.

R.O.T.O.R. (1987)

I needed 5 attempts over the last year  to make it through the first 10 minutes of ROTOR, but the worst was still ahead of me.

Crazy dialog with weird punchlines, illogical scene placement and length,  a funny tinfoil robot in a tiny police hat, sound great…

…unfortunately all that is painful to watch.

The digital remaster on BD does not make it better.

One of the movies that you have more fun talking about than actually watching it.

The guy who player ROTOR played also 3 more characters (according to IMDB).

RLM made an episode of BOTW about it.

Viva (2007)

Haven’t seen all these elements in such a combination. Well drawn characters, even Rick who is mostly on a ‘business- trip’ is quite important to the story.

Written, directed, edited, starred, scored, produced, costumes and music by Anna Biller.

This film has very intense moments, the ending is quite flat if you compare it to the roller coaster, the rest of the movie has been (70’s style ending ?)

Such a shame I missed the Anna Biller guest screenings at Cinenova.

‘Anna Biller collection bluray-set’ comming soon ?

Karate Kill (2016)

The next film from Kurando Mitsutake, whose Gunwoman I adored;  I had less sympathy For  The Blind Wolf; Karate Kill however is a bit different that the 2 previous movies.

You could call it a martial arts mayhem / revenge film; Rolling thunder meets The street fighter.

The costumes of the cult members are almost taken out of ‘The Town that dreaded…’ this trick probably reduced the number of extras playing the bad guys.

The ‘Rolling Thunder’ hand will produce some laughs during the love scene.

The GoPro-psycho-face-close-ups are really creepy.

I recommend this movie.
